Yamaha are a popular manufacturer of acoustic guitars, with product lines such as the LL and LJ proving popular over many years. There are currently six main Yamaha acoustic guitar series which we’ll go through briefly in this article. In general, cheap Yamaha acoustic guitars are easier to find than cheap acoustics from companies like Gibson, as product lines like the F series are designed to be affordable. Some models, such as the Yamaha acoustic LS16, however, can sell for hundreds of dollars.

The L Series
This is a series of acoustic guitars. Yamaha electro-acoustic guitars, such sa the CPX, APX, FSX and FX series all have separate product lines.
Yamaha LL Acoustic Guitars
LL acoustic guitars, according to Yamaha, are designed to be more refined than guitars using the standard dreadnought shape. The construction of Yamaha LL acoustic guitars is interesting, with various features including enlarged neck blocks and multi-ply necks common. Some of the most popular models include the Yamaha LL36 acoustic guitar and the LL16.
Yamaha LJ Acoustic Guitars
This series is a combination of the specification of the L series along with the “mini-jumbo” LJ acoustic. According to Yamaha the LJ series features the finest woods for top quality sound. Examples of models include the Yamaha LJ16 acoustic guitar, LJ26 and LJ36.
Yamaha LS Acoustic Guitars
Last in the L series is the LS. Yamaha LS acoustic guitars feature a Grand Auditorium size body, which makes for a high quality tone. Various models include the Yamaha LS36 and LS26.
The F Series
Yamaha F Acoustic Guitars
F series acoustic guitars provide high quality sound for an affordable and reasonable price. This makes them perfect for beginner guitarists, although many experienced players use them too. Some models include the F370 and F310.
Yamaha FG Acoustic Guitars
The FG series of acoustic guitars is designed to provide a balance between cost and tone. Like the L series, FG acoustic guitars use top quality tonewoods for the best sound. Some examples include the Yamaha FG750S, FG700S and FG720SL.
Yamaha FS Acoustic Guitars
The FS is a mixture of the LS series and the FG product range. The guitars have a Grande Auditorium design, making them perfect for guitarists who love intricate lines. The only model currently available is the Yamaha FS720 acoustic guitar.
