Gibson Electric Guitars

Gibson, or the Gibson Guitar Corporation, is amongst the most famous electric guitar manufacturers in the world. Some of its most famous models include the Les Paul, Firebird and Explorer. The company also produces a number of guitars that are sold under other brand names. Cheap Gibson electric guitars are available, but the high-end models can cost thousands of dollars. Vintage Gibson electric guitars sell for significantly more if they are in good condition.

History Of Gibson

Gibson, as a company, dates back to the end of the 19th century.  Originally, Gibson made acoustic guitars and mandolins, and were integral in the design of modern mandolins. The company was founded by a man called Orville Gibson.

It wasn’t until the 1950s, when the success of Fender electric guitars became apparent, that Gibson electric guitars were first produced. The original model was the Les Paul and became one of the most successful electric guitars of all time.

Since then the range of Gibson electric guitars has expanded, although the Les Paul is still one of the company’s most popular models. The next guitars manufactured were the Gibson Explorer, Moderne and Flying V, which were initial unpopular.  For a list of Gibson electric guitars visit this link.

Gibson Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar

The Bison Les Paul Studio guitar was originally designed for studio players – hence the name – and therefore doesn’t have any of the frills that you expect from an electric. Despite this, it has proved very popular amongst all types of guitarists, partly because it is much cheaper than the original Les Paul. It is available in several different styles such as stain ebony and chrome, as well as worn cherry satin.

Gibson Maestro Epoch Electric Guitars

The Maestro Epoch range by Gibson is meant for beginners, and is therefore one of the cheapest Gibson electric guitars available. The guitars are often sold as a package including an amp and other accessories, although they are also found on their own.

Gibson SG Electric Guitars

The Gibson SG series of electric guitars dates back to 1961, where the first “Solid Guitar” was made. At the time, the design of the guitar was completely new, and it still looks great today. A number of famous players have used an SG including Frank Zappa and Eric Clapton.
