When it comes to jumbo acoustic guitars, there’s not a lot of debate about the Gibson SJ200 being the market leader. Unlike other acoustics, which are usually mass produced in a factory, Gibson acoustic guitars are made by hand without the shortcuts that usually go into mass product. The Gibson SJ200 acoustic guitar has fantastic tone, looks stylish and feels great to play. In this Gibson SJ200 True Vintage review we’ll talk in depth about the features of the guitar, along with where to get the best prices.

Gibson SJ200 True Vintage Features

The Gibson SJ200 True Vintage is designed to provide the same feel and appearance as the original Super Jumbo which was released in the 1930s. It has a deep tone, with a well balanced tonal palette and a loud sound. It is also almost identical to the original.

The Gibson SJ200 True Vintage acoustic guitar comes with the Gotoh green button tuners. These have a gear ratio of 15 to 1, providing an accurate tuning system that protects the string post.

The tortoise pickguard is the standard version for Gibson’s super jumbo guitars. It is engraved by hand to include vine and floral patterns. The pickguard is designed to appear exactly as the original model did in the 1930s, giving it that vintage feel.

The fingerboard is made from Rosewood. It has traditional binding, graduated crown inlays (made form mother of pearl) and is modeled on the original Gibson acoustic.

There are a variety of other interesting features of the Gibson SJ200. The top is made from Sitka spruce, and the side and back are made using maple. This gives the Gibson SJ200 a deep and balanced tone which has become the hallmark if Gibson super jumbo acoustics. Other features include a hand crafted rosette around the sound hole, radiused top bracing and the crown logo.

Gibson SJ200 True Vintage Prices

The Gibson SJ200 True Vintage costs a lot of money – over $6500 depending on where you buy from. It’s impossible to find cheap Gibson SJ200 guitars, but you may get a better price by looking for second hand Gibson SJ200 True Vintage acoustics. These are often snapped up quickly, however, so you need to be on a regular lookout for when they become available. While speed is important, you should make sure you check the condition of the SJ200 before you buy.

Arguably the most recognizable acoustic guitar of all time, the Martin D-28 acoustic guitar has had a major effect on the design and appearance of many competing guitars through the years. With its distinctive design, reasonable price tag (for a high end acoustic guitar) and great tone, the Martin D-28 has remained one of the most popular models for a long time. In this article we’ll do a brief Martin D-28 review, including the main features of the model, along with a quick introduction on how to find the best D-28 prices.

Martin D-28 Features

As the Martin D-28 acoustic guitar has been copied by so many other manufacturers its design may not stand out to the untrained eye. To those who love acoustics, however, it has a distinctive and attractive shape.

The top of the guitar is made using solid Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are manufactured with Indian Rosewood. The endpiece if white boltaron, as is the binding.

The neck shape of the Martin D-28 is designed to be low profile, and the fingerboard material is black ebony. The scale length if 25.4”.

There are 14 frets clear, and a total of 20 frets. The width of the fingerboard at the nut is 1-11/16”, and at the 12th fret it is 2-1/8”.

There are optional electronics – whether you want them or not comes down to personal taste.

Other features include a black pickguard, 640 molded case included in the price (if you buy new) and a solid black ebony bridge.

Martin D-28 Prices

The recommend price of the Martin D-28 acoustic guitar is around $3000. This is cheaper than models such as the Taylor 814CE, but still a reasonably high price. To find the best Martin D-28 prices it’s often a good idea to look online. There are many online dealers of Martin acoustic guitars, and it’s sometimes possible to find a vendor with a sale on. You may also want to consider buying a second hand Martin D-28 guitar if the retail price is too much for you. As always, when buying a second hand guitar you need to be careful who you buy from and choose a guitar that’s in good condition (or a cheaper price if you’re willing to do it up).

The reasons why the Taylor 814CE has managed to stay as the company’s most popular model for so many years are easy to see. It has the perfect mix of science and heart when it comes to design, and the wood choices, construction and all other features perfectly y combine to form a fantastic guitar with great tone.

Taylor 814CE Acoustic Guitar Features

The Taylor 814CE acoustic guitar has an attractive and stylish design. It has a 6 string Grand auditorium body, along with an Indian Rosewood back and sides. The Top of the guitar is made from Sitka Spruce, and the finish of the guitar is glossy.

The neck of the Taylor 814CE is made using Tropical American Mahogany. This, combined with the body and sides, are what makes the instrument such a delight to hear.

The fretboard inlay is Pearl 800 series, and the bridge is made from ebony. The tuning machines are Taylor Tuners (gold plated).

The radius of the fretboard is 15 inches. The truss rod is adjustable, and the width of the neck at the nut is 1.75 inches. The width of the body is 16 inches, depth 4 and 5/8 inches, and the length is 20 inches. The overall length of the guitar is 20 inches.

Although the Taylor 814CE sunburst acoustic guitar is a popular model that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s cheap! The recommended retail price of the 814CE is around $4000, which isn’t the most expensive on the market but far from the cheapest either. Most guitarists who use this model come to love it, as it has a fantastic tone that is difficult to match.

If you’re looking for a cheaper Taylor 814CE acoustic guitar then you may need to consider choosing a second hand model. It’s possible to find cheap second hand Taylor 814ce guitars, often on auction sites, but it’s essential to do proper research before making a final decision.

Laney guitar amps range from budget 10W practice amps right up to high end 100W stacks, so it’s important to read online reviews to ensure that you get the right one for you and your guitar. This article will go through some of the most popular Laney amps available at the moment to help you decide which one might be best for your requirements. Remember, there is no such thing as the best Laney guitar amp – it’s a matter of personal preference and what you’re going to be using it for.

Laney Lionheart Amplifiers

The company’s most popular series of guitar amps is probably the Lionheart collection. These are retro guitar amps that are said to have a great sound. There’s no doubt that Lionheart amps are attractive models, with a distinct retro design. Examples of Laney Lionheart amps include the L20T-410 – a 20W twin channel tube amp – and the LT212 – a cabinet that’s designed to match the Laney L20H amp.

Laney VC Amps

The Laney VC series of amps – according to the company – are already a “modern classic”. The VC range offers “classic British tone” with a number of different speaker options. VC30 amps, for example, come with two channels that are footswitchable, a three band DQ and a bright switch. Examples of specific models in this collection include the VC30-212, VC15-110 and VC30-112. As with any guitar amp, it’s important to read online reviews before you decide to buy. Cheap Laney amps are also often available if you’re willing to buy second hand – just be careful that you know the condition of the amplifier before you buy.

Other Laney Amps

There are a large number of other Laney guitar amps available at the moment. The LG series, for example, includes models such as the Laney LG20R and LG35R. LX Generation models such as the LC20R and LX35R are also available. Take your time when searching for Laney amps as there are a range of options and you don’t want to make a wrong decision. Think about what you need from an amp and which series would be most likely to meet you requirements.

The Fender Precision bass is without doubt one of the most famous bass models ever manufactured. It was originally designed in 1951, and became the first electric bass to become widely used. Today, there are many different models of Fender Precision bass, including the American Deluxe Precision bass, American Standard and a variety of special editions such as the String Precision bass. This Fender Precision bass review will go through a few of the most popular models available at the moment.

Fender American Deluxe Precision bass

The Fender American Deluxe Precision bass has gone through many design iterations since it was first released, but still stays true to the original’s sound and design. Modern American Deluxe Precisions come with contemporary features such as a new preamp circuit and noiseless pickups. Features of the American Deluxe Precision bass include 21 frets, a modern C shape neck shape and a chrome hardware finish. The Fender Precision bass American Deluxe version is available in a number of different colors including Olympic white, black, natural and 3-color sunburst.

Fender American Standard Precision Bass

The Fender American Standard Precision bass is as close as you can get to the original model without buying a vintage Fender bass. It is available in a number of different finishes including 2 color sunburst, candy cola and blizzard pearl, and is designed to be smoothly playable with a great tone. It’s a few hundred dollars cheaper than the Deluxe model, but still packs a punch.

Signature Fender Precision Bass Models

As I mentioned earlier, there are a large number of signature Fender Precision bass models. Some of the most popular include the Steve Harris Prevision bass, Mike Dirnt precision bass and the Tony Franklin Fretless precision bass. Duff McKagan and Sting also have signature models. Signature precision basses vary in price from around $1000 up to $2500 for the most expensive.

Other Fender Precision Bass Models

There are a number of other Fender Precision bass models available. The American Vintage 57’, for example, is designed to closely match one of the original models. The Standard Precision bass is a cheaper model that’s a good choice if you’re on a budget but still want the Precision sound.

Gibson SG Standard Features

The Gibson SG Standard bass guitar is designed with a three way adjustable bridge. This allows the bassist to change the string height of the SG Standard in three different directions – namely side to side, front and back. If you want a bass you can fine tune to your personal preferences then the Gibson SG Standard is a good choice.

Another interesting feature of the Gibson SG Standard is that its designed with asset neck construction. The advantage of a set neck design is that the wood is directly glued from the body and neck, meaning there’s no air space and maximum contact. This, theoretically, results in a better tone and sustain.

The vintage style TB mini and TB humbuckers are one of the Gibson SG Standard bass most distinguishing features. The pickups have only undergone minor changes in design since the 1960s, and changes have stayed true to the original’s sound. The TB humbucker at the neck, for example, is a regular noise cancelling pickup with a heavy bottom end. The mini bridge humbucker has better mids. This combination allows a bassist a variety of different sounds for various styles and occasions.

Other features include a solid mahogany body, 20 fret rosewood fingerboard and an adjustable truss rod.

The Gibson SG Standard is currently only available with one finish – heritage cherry - although ebony and other colours can be found.
